| Again, a new article on Lahcen appeared today, Friday 9, on the "Post Courier". this one is full of hope. here is the text, the article is accessible by clicking to following link... http://www.postcourier.com.pg/20060609/news13.htmMoroccan to go home
A stranded Moroccan national who has been lying paralysed at the Port Moresby General Hospital for the last nine years will now be able to fly back to his country. The Moroccan, Lahcen Oulad Elhaj, in his early 30s, will leave the country as soon as all his medical reports for the last nine years are finalised by doctors and a physiotherapist at the hospital. This is after one of his countrymen working with the United Nation AIDS in the PNG read the exclusive report of Mr Elhaj in the Post-Courier and arranged his travel documents to fly him back to Morocco. PMGH social worker Etu Azavu said the man from the United Nation AIDS is waiting for his medical reports from doctors. “The UNA man has just arrived in the country but upon reading Mr Elhaj’s story in the Post-Courier, came to the hospital and told Mr Elhaj that his traveling documents were arranged and he was ready to fly back to his country anytime,” Ms Azavu said. She said several non government organisations from Morocco have contacted PMGH to make necessary arrangements for Mr Elhaj to fly back to his country and his family has been informed Mr Elhaj was on his way to Australia through PNG in 1998 to look for a job when he was struck ill by a rare disease and ended up at the Daru hospital. He was later transferred to the PMGH. Mr Elhaj is paralysed and could not move his limbs or even speak. The hospital has cared for him free of charge for the past nine years. | |
